Red Hot Chili Peppers To Start Working On New Album In July

Exciting days for RHCP fans!

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, Chad Smith, has announced the band has 'about 20 songs' to record and that they will start to do it in July.

This would mark the tenth Studio Album from the US band, and is set to be produced by Rick Rubin.

"We have a lot of material, probably about 20 songs," the drummer told "Pre-production will take a few months, but I'd say by July we'll be laying down real tracks."

This new album will feature for the first time the new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, after John Frusciante left the band last year.

"We were sad to see John leave the band but he has to do what he wants and follow his path," Smith said, adding that despite Frusciante's departure, that his replacement was a "natural fit".

"Josh is a real creative force," he said. "He's going to play guitar, he's going to write music, he's going to sing and play keyboards. We're all thrilled to have Josh be part of the group."
