Martin Scorsese wants Al Pacino to play the late singer on the big screen.
Last year it was all over the news that George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp were among the three main candidates to play Sinatra on a biopic movie.
However, while speaking to Indian newspaper The Hindu, Martin Scorsese has affirmed he'd like Al Pacino instead as the main Frank Sinatra. "I'm yet to spot the actor who can bring back Frank Sinatra alive on screen," he said. Yet added: "My choice is Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin.”
Earlier this year, Pacino said he was working on the screenplay of the movie and that he'd be focusing on several periods of Sinatra's life, not his greatest period especifically, which means in Scorsese's own words he'd "have three or four different Sinatras. Younger. Older. Middle-aged. Very old. You cut back and forth in time – and you do it through the music.".
Sinatra's daughter, Tina Sinatra, however, reportedly wants Clooney for the role as she has the music rights of her father's music.
